The Rallye des Gazelles has retained the appreciation of Moroccans and the public at large, and also competitors and supporters, ever since its debut. Restricted to women participants only, this initiative has been a remarkable one in Morocco since 1990, where preparing ahead and focusing on the possibilities have been required. When it comes to environmental protection, Rallye des Gazelles has always been thoughtful and creative. Giti Tire is delighted to announce its participation in the Rallye this year which is scheduled to hold on September 17th with the talented Giti Gazelles team.
The importance of Rallye des Gazelles
In 1990, Dominique Serra, the leader of the Maenga operating agency, organised this very first women’s rally. Originally intended as an advertising project and to remove stereotypes, the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles has grown to become one of Morocco’s most prominent motorsports activities. The Rallye remains to evolve, continuously changing and growing with the times while remaining true to its basic principles of boldness, the willingness to exceed one’s boundaries, devotion, unity, and social and environmental responsibility. With Dominique Serra at the lead, the Rallye strives to grow and innovate even after 30 years.
Since 2010, the Rallye has been the world’s first motorsport event to be certified to ISO 14001:2015. The funds raised in the event are used to support teams of physicians who provide clinical care to people in Morocco’s rural regions. Each year, the event’s organiser strives tirelessly to find the right balance between the terrain’s difficulty and the bivouac’s convenience for such remarkable women in all aspects of life.
About the Gazelles
In terms of vision and creativity, the Rallye Aciha des Gazelles du Maroc has always been a trendsetter. The participants known as Gazelles, both beginners and sports fanatics, have one common characteristic that they’ve all come to enjoy an extraordinary experience with their teammates. Each Gazelle has her own unique inspiration – to test her boundaries, to go on an adrenaline-pumping adventure, or to liven up her everyday routine.
The most important aspect of the event to understand is that it is a long-distance event; teams are only provided with maps, compasses, and a list of locations to cover. The race usually begins with six vehicles travelling in separate directions, and it is conceivable that one of them may wind up at one’s opposition’s checkpoint, which is why precision is essential.
The Rallye Acha des Gazelles du Maroc is a beginner event where each year, 75% of the total groups are participating for the very first time. The Rallye Acha des Gazelles du Maroc is accessible to any woman aged 18 and above who have a valid driving license for the automobile they intend to drive. Participants are not required to be members of any federation or to hold any type of sports authorization. Each team consists of two people – one being the pilot and her teammate being the navigator to help in steering the vehicle through the best route possible.
